Besix and Eiffage win €100m contact to build headquarters for Brussels broadcaster

A joint venture between Belgian contractor Besix and France’s Eiffage has been chosen to build the headquarters for a Belgian television company in northern Brussels.

The project is worth almost €100m, of which Besix will take €60m and Eiffage, through its Valens subsidiary, €40m.

The 4ha MediaSquare project is being constructed in the Mediapark complex in the Brussels suburb of Schaerbeek. The client, public service broadcaster Radio-Télévision Belge (RTBF), will relocate all its employees to the building when it is completed in 2024.

The company has chosen to move to give its staff more space and improve its energy performance. The 20ha site of RTBF’s present headquarters, close to the Diamant bus and tram stops, will be refurbished.

The new building was designed by two Brussels architects MDW Architectures and V+. It will be clad in a curved glazed facade and will include indoor gardens, terraces and a patio.
