British project heavyweight Tony Douglas joins Abu Dhabi Airports Company

27 March 2013

Former Heathrow Airport chief executive Tony Douglas has become CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).

Mr Douglas, formerly CEO at Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), will lead the multi-billion dollar Mid Field Terminal project set to boost capacity to 40 million passengers per year.

He is credited with delivering Heathrow’s $6.8bn Terminal 5 project smoothly, and leading the programme management team for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"This represents a challenge on a truly global scale with an opportunity to deliver one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects worldwide," he said.

Meanwhile, Dubai contracting giant Arabtec has hired Murray & Roberts Contractors’ former managing director Mark Andrews as its new chief operating officer.

Mr Andrews, who was also the managing director of Drake & Scull, will join the company in May, ArabianBusiness.com reported.

Arabtec replaced its CEO, founder Riad Kamal, and CFO in recent weeks in a management shake-up led by Abu Dhabi state fund Aabar, its top shareholder.
