China plans to set up a stable long term partnership with Brazil and other Latin American countries for infrastructure and oil and gas projects, China’s Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi said last week in Brasilia.
The Chinese minister was in the Brazilian capital to attend the inaugural session of the Brazil-China Strategic Global Dialogue established in 2012 to boost the relationship between the countries,
"Cooperation with Brazil and other Latin American countries has great potential as China imports a large amount of oil and natural gas, for which demand is long term," said the Chinese minister, according to Macauhub.com
Wang Yi also said that China was interested in getting involved in "any infrastructure construction project in Brazil," particularly railways of every kind, including high-speed, power production, including thermal and nuclear power, and all types of roads.
The President of China, Xi Jinping, may make an official visit to Brazil in July to take part in a meeting of the BRICS countries in Fortaleza and the meeting of heads of State of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and China.
