Two Chinese companies will participate in building a $297m pellet plant in Iran, according to reports.

Zhongye Changtian International Engineering and Metallurgical Corporation of China are participating in the project within an engineering, procurement, construction and financing contract.

Once complete the plant, located in Iran’s southern Bafq region in Yazd province, will have a capacity of 5 million tons per year, reports Azerbaijan’s Trend News Agency.

It is not clear what pellets will be produced at the plant, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by July 2016.
