Chinese firms picked to build ring road in Tanzanian capital

The Tanzania National Roads Agency has awarded contracts to two Chinese firms to build a 112km ring road around the capital, Dodoma, together worth about $95.7m.

The road is to be financed by the African Development Bank and the government of Tanzania.

The agreements were signed Friday, 10 July by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and Avic International Project Engineering Company.

CCECC will construct around 52km of the road for some $43.5m within 39 months, reports Chinese state news outlet CGTN.

Avic will build 60km in 43 months for some $52.2m.
