Designers sought for mixed-use central Warsaw city block

Malcolm Reading Consultants (MRC) is working with Zeitgeist Asset Management (ZAM) on a design competition for a 1930s former telecoms office in central Warsaw that is listed in the Polish Register of Monuments.

The 95,000 sq m development will contain offices, hospitality, retail and residential space, located around publicly accessible landscaped courtyards.

The project includes 76,000 sq m of above-ground development, with an additional 19,000 sq m underground.

Those entering the competition will create a sustainable design with a sustainable legacy that incorporates the project’s period features.

Sebastian Junghänel, the co-founder of ZAM, said: "This central Warsaw project will be a key initiative for ZAM during 2021. A design competition perfectly expresses our brand values. We’re seeking a fresh and exceptional focus on design quality – ultimately, architecture that will inspire upcoming generations.

"We are working with MRC to find the most imaginative and dedicated team for the project."

MRC has invited a number of architects to enter the competition, which will be whittled down to a six-team shortlist for stage two in summer 2021.
