Hill International lands role on Expo 2017 in Kazakhstan

US-based consultant Hill International has received a contract to help build facilities for Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The contract was awarded by Turkish contractor Sembol Construction, which is building the core structure of Expo 2017, the Kazakhstan Pavilion.

Announcing the award yesterday Hill International said the total area of the Expo complex is 174 hectares, and 38 new facilities are planned within it.

Hill said the Expo is a $1bn program running from June to September next year.

More than 100 countries are expected to take part along with major international bodies.

The themes of the event are "Reduction of CO2 emissions", "Energy-efficient lifestyles" and "Energy for all".

"It is extremely exciting to be part of such an important world event," said Raouf S. Ghali, Hill’s Chief Operating Officer.
