Mace completes luxury Turkish resort

UK-based construction manager Mace is warming up to the luxury hotel market in Turkey after a second project opened its doors to well-heeled guests this week.

The "Mandarin Oriental Bodrum", with just 86 rooms and 23 apartments, was built on a series of levels nestled in the resort’s landscaped hillside on the northern coast of the Bodrum peninsula on Cennet Koyu.

The hotel’s developer claimed it would re-define the luxury holiday concept in the region.

"The entry of such a prestigious and luxurious hotel brand sets a new milestone, and serves to increase Bodrum’s appeal," said Vedat AÅŸcı, Chairman of AstaÅŸ Real Estate Investments and Tourism A.Åž. "Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum’s location, design and service standards will set it apart, re-defining the luxury holiday concept in this region."

Each room has a sun-deck and terrace or balcony, while the suites have infinity pools and private gardens.

The hotel features a 2,700-sq-m spa and wellness centre. The resort also offers ten bars and restaurants, five swimming pools and an aquatic sports centre.

Ryan McIvor, Mace’s country director for Turkey, said it was the second five-star luxury hotel Mace has delivered in Turkey this year. He said it "further demonstrates our ability to deliver major projects in this country".

The hotel is located on a 60 hectare waterfront site on the northern coast of the Bodrum peninsula on Cennet Koyu, the hotel is 20km from Bodrum town centre and 50km from Bodrum International Airport.

Mace was recently appointed project and cost developer for the 40,000 sqm Oman Cultural Complex in Muscat.
