Skanska wins $300m Norwegian motorway contract

Swedish contractor Skanska has signed a $300m contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to build a 8.4km motorway between the Bærum and Hole municipalities in the east of the country.

The project will replace a narrow, winding road with a four-lane motorway, thereby improving accessibility and safety on what Skanska describes as an "important exit and transport route".

Work on the project includes the construction of four tunnels and eight bridges, and the removal of 3 million cubic metres of earth.

Construction work on the project is due to begin in February.
