Switzerland to help India build sustainably

6 August 2013

A five year project to promote sustainable architecture in India has been launched by the Indian and Swiss governments.

"We are hoping that by end of these five years of our partnership, the practice of developing the building design through an integrated and participatory process will be widely applied in the building community in India," said Swiss ambassador Linus Von Castelmur.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation will finance the project, organised by the Indo-Swiss Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP).

BEEP is a five-year bilateral cooperation project between the Ministry of Power (MoP), Government of India and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of the Swiss Confederation.

It brings together builders, developers and state agencies to promote energy efficient designs for residential and commercial buildings.
