Norwegian civil engineer Peab has been commissioned to carry out a reconstruction of the E45 highway in central Göthenburg.
Peab was awarded the $120m contract by the Swedish Transport Administration.
The assignment includes a lowering of the E45 from Lilla Bommen in the centre of the city to Marieholm near Malmö. The road will be moved down by 6m over a 800m stretch.
Half of that distance will be decked over, creating opportunities for building on top of the tunnel roof.
The renovation includes a bridge at Gullbergs traffic junction, which will be widened to create two through-lanes on the E45. Â
Construction will start in spring 2016 and the project is expected to be completed in 2020. Â
The project will be reported in the first quarter in 2016.
Peab was recently awarded a $40m contract for an Arctic port facility.
