Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the 12th and final civil contract for phase one of its new MRT link, the Cross Island Line (CRL1).

Penta Ocean Construction will design and build the Bright Hill interchange station for a contract sum of around $386m (S$526m).

LTA said Penta Ocean had a strong track record of infrastructure, building and tunnelling projects in Singapore. The company previously worked on Bright Hill station along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and is currently building the station, tunnels and customs building for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link.

Work on the CRL1 Bright Hill station is expected to start in the second quarter of 2022, with passenger service expected to commence in 2030.

Bright Hill station is located along Sin Ming Avenue where the ground is made up of predominantly Bukit Timah Granite, requiring close monitoring of the tunnel boring machines.

CRL1 is 29km long and its 12 stations run from Aviation Park to Bright Hill.
