Swedish contractor Skanska has won a $70m contract to build an undergraduate science laboratory building at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The new 9,500-sq-m building will contain 30 wet, dry and specialty laboratories for life sciences, engineering and other subjects.

It will also have workspaces, classrooms, offices, informal study areas and 24/7 student space.

Construction on the project has already begun and is due to be completed in April 2024.
