Skanska wins $448m contract for New York medical lab

Swedish contractor Skanska has won a $448m contract from the New York City Economic Development Corporation to build a municipal health lab in Harlem, New York.

The 10-storey, 21,800 sq m development will be located on the Harlem Hospital Campus and will contain offices, laboratories and clinical facilities.

The lower levels of the project will include lobby, auditorium, a walk-in testing centre and several support areas.

Demolition of three existing buildings will create room for the structure, construction of which is due to begin next summer, with completion planned for the second quarter of 2026.
