Sweco snaps up Dutch firm, Econsultancy

Sweco chief executive Åsa Bergman sees “a large market potential” for environmental services in the Netherlands and beyond (Tobias Regell/Sweco)
Stockholm-headquartered Sweco has bought Dutch firm Econsultancy to meet what it believes to be growing demand for environmental services in Europe.

Econsultancy’s 200 staff will join Sweco Netherlands’ 1,900 engineers, environmental consultants, and architects.

Sweco chief executive Åsa Bergman said there was “a large market potential” for environmental services in the Netherlands and beyond.

Econsultancy had a turnover of around €15m in 2022 to Sweco Netherlands’ €214m turnover that year.

The acquisition closed on 3 January and Econsultancy will be consolidated into Sweco this month.
