Turner Construction has begun work on Connecticut Great Wolf Lodge, a $300m 13-acre resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The site is adjacent to the Foxwoods Resort Casino and will contain 549 rooms, a 91,000 sq ft indoor waterpark, a 61,000 sq ft family entertainment centre as well as a conference space and restaurants.

Some 400 staff will work on the project at the height of construction and, once completed, 500 full and part-time jobs will be created.

Chad McCullough, Turner Construction’s vice president, said: “This groundbreaking marks the start of 1.1 million hours of work to complete construction of the resort. Ultimately, this work will result in a wonderful destination for families.

“We thank Great Wolf Lodge for inviting us to be part of the team that will make this resort a reality. It is great that people from the community will be part of the construction of a project that will be such a wonderful new family resort for the community and region.”

In a press release, Great Wolf Lodge said the resort was being developed in partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Connecticut Great Wolf Lodge is due to open in 2025.
