OCU Group, a contractor based in Stockport, UK has announced its entry into the Australian market through the acquisition of multidisciplinary All Energy Contracting (AEC) for an undisclosed sum.
AEC was founded in Brisbane in 2018 and delivers solar, wind, storage, civil and power infrastructure services in Australia and New Zealand.
AEC will continue to be led by its current management team under its existing name, while the partnership will allow OCU to move into the Australian energy infrastructure market, plus the regulated power sector, including long-term grid reinforcement programmes.
OCU notes that Australia’s energy market is growing, with investment planned in generation, transmission and storage.
Michael Hughes, OCU Group’s chief executive, said: “This investment represents a measured first step in our international journey.
“A number of our energy transition clients operate internationally and have asked whether OCU can support them beyond the UK. We are already pursuing opportunities in Australia with several of these clients.
“Together, we have the opportunity to deliver greater impact across Australia’s energy transition landscape.”
