Vestas to build six wind farms in Brazil

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has been awarded a contract for six installations in the state of Bahía in northeastern Brazil.

The company will supply 86 units, which will together generate up to 172MW.

The contracts comprise the supply and installation of the turbines.

Marco Graziano, president of Vestas Mediterranean, said: "Brazil was Vestas’ fifth largest market for order intake in 2015, and we have a strategic ambition to grow further there."

The company has been present in Brazil since 2000 and announced 376MW in orders in 2015.

Turbine delivery is planned for the second quarter of 2017, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter.

Vestas was recently awarded its largest order ever.
