An office building designed by Nikken Sekkei for Japanese air conditioning and refrigeration conglomerate Daikin in Vietnam has scored a hat trick of platinums in building performance ratings.
The new 14,523-sq-m Daikin Air Tower in downtown Ho Chi Minh City can boast a platinum LEED environmental certification, a platinum WELL healthy building certification and a platinum LOTUS rating, Vietnam’s environmental building certification.
Nikken Sekkei says it used Daikin’s own technology to improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency, which it enhanced with architectural approaches like heat-insulating glass façades and natural lighting.
The building has a real-time monitoring system for tracking energy consumption and air quality.
Mr. P. Gopalakrishnan, Southeast Asia managing director of Green Business Certification, Inc, which assessed Daikin Air Tower for the LEED rating, praised its “passive, human-centric, and future-focused design”.
“The project performs exceptionally well in water stewardship and indoor environmental quality, setting a strong benchmark for healthy, high-performance workplaces,” he said, adding: “LEED on!”
