Vinci continues expanding outside Europe with purchase of Australian engineer

Vinci Energies, the Vinci subsidiary specialising in energy services and ICT, this week finalised the acquisition of Australian engineer J&P Richardson Industries, of Queensland.

The purchase announced 8 February marks the latest expansion of the French conglomerate outside Europe.

It follows Vinci rail subisdiary Eurovia’s acquisition of Canadian rail contractor Rail Cantech, announced just last week, and the June 2015 purchase of New Zealand civil engineer, HEB Construction.

Vinci did not disclose financial details of the J&P Richardson acquisition.

J&P Richardson was founded in 1958, employs 500 staff and generates annual revenue of US$92m.

The company specialises in engineering, installation and maintenance of electricity networks, water utilities, telecoms and industrial processes.

With the acquisition, Vinci subsidiary Vinci Energies hopes to boost its position in the Australian energy and transport infrastructure services market.

At the end of 2015, Vinci Energies employed 500 people and generated around US$100m of revenue in Australia.
