The US subsidiary of Italy’s Webuild has won a $238m design-and-build contract to expand the Interstate 75 in north-central Florida.
Lane Construction will provide auxiliary lanes between interchanges, bridge replacements, milling and resurfacing, noise walls, a new interchange at 49th Street and two interchange modifications.
Once completed, the changes are expected to reduce northbound delays by 96% and southbound delays by 88%, as well as improving hurricane evacuation times due to upgraded shoulders and medians and increased road capacity.
Construction is due to begin in early 2026 and will take three years to complete.
The project is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s “Moving Florida Forward” initiative.
