100 ring roads: Poland plans to spend €6.6bn on urban bypasses

Poland’s plan to build 100 ring roads in the next 10 years will require investment of €6.6bn, the country’s infrastructure minister said on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference, Andrzej Adamczyk said the 100 Ring Roads Programme 2020-30 would have to wait before it was officially adopted by the government, but was confident that it would be fully implemented.

"I’d like it to happen as soon as possible but I think the realistic date for the programme’s endorsement is August," he said.
The design of 43 of the ring roads have already been drafted, and the first 15 or so tenders will be announced by the end of the year, he added. Finance is to come from the National Road Fund.

The aim is to bypass urban areas with the greatest pass-through traffic and those with the highest rate of accidents. Another factor will be a region’s need for economic growth.
