Spanish infrastructure company Acciona will power an unnamed construction site in Spain with a zero-emissions hydrogen generator next year, generator company AFC Energy said today.
The companies want to bring clean, renewable energy to construction in Europe as an alternative to diesel generators. Water is the only emission from AFC Energy’s hydrogen powered generator.
The generator will initially be a containerised 160kW system.
Acciona will get a battery energy storage system and an ammonia cracker to make hydrogen fuel, said AFC Energy.
The system will be tested to validate its technical and economic viability, leading possibly to more such collaborations. Â
