Skanska wins projects worth $410m in America and Sweden

Skanska has signed a $255m contract with Competitive Power Ventures Holdings (CPV) to build the Valley Energy Centre in Wawayanda, New York State.

With joint venture partners Burns & McDonnell and Ecco Enterprises, Skanska will construct a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant.

With a gross capacity of almost 675MW, the facility will improve energy efficiency in the region and power more than 600,000 homes.

Construction begins in July and substantial completion is expected in 2017.

Skanska has also been awarded a $155m turnkey contract by the Swedish Transport Administration to construct the southern connection of the Stockholm bypass tunnel.

The project covers about 350m of tunnel with two lanes in each direction, southbound connections and a new interchange. Construction will start in the spring of 2016, with expected completion in 2021.
