Turner & Townsend appointed on Auckland’s $4.4bn City Rail Link

UK-headquartered Turner & Townsend has been appointed to provide cost management advisory services for the Aukland’s City Rail Link, described as the largest transport infrastructure project ever undertaken in New Zealand.

With a capital value of more than NZ$4.4 billion, it comprises the redevelopment of an existing heritage station and two new underground stations linked by a 3.45km twin tunnel up to 42 metres below the city.

Ross Dunkerley, Regional Director for Turner & Townsend New Zealand, comments: "Upon its completion in 2024, City Rail Link will double Auckland’s rail capacity and improve travel times for the entire transport network. It represents a significant enhancement and modernisation of the city’s urban framework."

Funded by the New Zealand government and Auckland Council, City Rail Link will provide the capacity to manage 54,000 passengers an hour at peak travel times.
