Admin error delays Cork redevelopment

An administrative error will delay the construction of a road scheme in the Irish city of Cork by four to five months.

The mistake involved omitting the conclusions of an environmental screening exercise in a public notice. A new environmental planning process consultation will be conducted due to the error.

The Cork Docklands to City Centre Road Network project is intended to improve connections in the area, which is being transformed from industrial to residential use.

Gerry O’Beirne, Cork’s director of infrastructure development, said: "The notice omission and consequential action and delay are sincerely regretted.

"The administrative error in the drafting of the public notice reflected a weakness in the council’s internal processes which has since been corrected."
