Bam to build hotel and apartments in Dublin’s Newmarket Square

Bam Ireland has been appointed as main contractor on a €100m project to build a Premier Inn and 413 apartments at Newmarket Square in Dublin 8.

The 29,570-sq-m development consists of the 151-bed hotel and apartments at the site of the former IDA Ireland Small Business Centre in the historic Liberties area of Dublin city centre.

Bam said the development would "serve demand for accommodation in Dublin’s booming private rented sector" with a mix of studio, one, two and three bed apartments.

Work has begun and the project is due for completion in 2023.

The design includes some 1,925-sq-m of landscaped communal spaces and a new public walkway through the site from Newmarket Square to St. Luke’s Avenue.

Since 2015, regeneration around Newmarket has turned former industrial units and vacant sites into commercial, residential, student housing, hotels and visitor attractions, including the extremely popular Dublin Liberties Distillery.

Theo Cullinane, Bam Ireland CEO, said: "Moving forward with this project is particularly exciting considering the full return of the construction sector and we look forward to getting back to delivering much-needed new homes, while continuing to ensure the highest standards of safety on all of our sites."
