Bechtel opens Melbourne office to tap infrastructure pipeline

US engineering and construction company Bechtel has opened an office in Melbourne as it gears up to help the state of Victoria deliver its A$100bn infrastructure pipeline.

Bechtel has worked in Australia for 65 years but its Collins Street office will provide a base to seek more work in rail, aviation and roads, the company said.

It is currently working on the Sydney Metro and Western Sydney Airport.

Bechtel Australia Chairman, Leigh Clifford said: "The Victorian Government has outlined a world class pipeline of infrastructure projects in its Big Build program that we believe we are well placed to help build.

"We can add the necessary extra capacity to the Victorian marketplace by accessing our established Australian workforce and drawing on the expertise and experience of our vast global network."
