Aerospace company Boeing has chosen US engineer Jacobs to design the 1.1 sq ft expansion of its campus in St Louis, Missouri.

The expansion, which Boeing says will cost “multi-billions”, is intended to improve assembly operations.

Jacobs’ scope of work includes the demolition of an old facility, as well as the design and engineering of its replacement.

Susannah Kerr, Jacobs’ vice president, said: “During the past two years, our ongoing collaboration with Boeing … reflects Jacobs’ commitment to supporting national security and defence operations by providing critical facilities and infrastructure.”

Mark Webb, Boeing’s vice president of site readiness in St Louis, said: “The largest investments Boeing is making in defence is in St. Louis.

“The new classified facilities will feature the greatest advances in digital design and manufacturing the world has seen. Our St Louis site will continue to grow in facilities and head count for the next several years.”

Construction has already begun and is due to be completed across multiple phases between 2026 and 2030.
