Clark Construction Group has been selected by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Veterans Affairs for a $618m veterans’ health centre in El Paso, Texas.

The 493,000 sq ft facility will provide outpatient services, including primary care, mental health, specialty care, ambulatory surgery and ancillary services. It will be located on a 36-acre site on Fort Bliss, Texas, near the recently completed William Beaumont Army Medical Centre (pictured).

Clark’s scope includes installing utilities and an energy plant, as well as constructing access roads and landscaping.

Michael Brennan, executive director of construction and facilities management at the Department of Veterans Affairs, said: “The successful construction award of the El Paso Health Care Centre is the result of VA’s efforts to improve planning and implementation of a design–build project.

“Most importantly, upon completion, the Health Care Centre will service and improve access to world-class health care for more than 54,000 veterans in the El Paso area.”
