Cork building collapse closes road

A partial building collapse overnight in Cork, Ireland has closed a main road in the city.

Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene after the collapse at around 2am, RTE reported.

Fears of further collapse led to the evacuation of a building next door.

The building, reportedly under renovation, is on the corner Washington and South Main streets

The city council warned commuters to avoid Washington Street.

Buildings control engineers are on the scene assessing the building’s safety and stability.
