Australia’s Department of Defence has picked Cimic Group’s CPB Contractors for the early contractor involvement development phase for upgrades at air force bases Curtin and Learmonth in Western Australia.

The work involves upgrades to runways, taxiways, parking areas and aeronautical ground lighting, asphalting and improving culverts and drainage.

RAAF Base Curtin is located southeast of Derby. RAAF Base Learmonth is an RAAF airbase with civilian airport operations, located south of Exmouth.

CPB Contractors managing director Jason Spears noted his company had previously upgraded RAAF bases Pearce, Amberley, and Williamtown.

Cimic said the early development phase is expected to be completed in 2024, with construction completed in 2028.
