Construction and engineering group Douglas OHI has become the first company in Oman to be recognised as a Chartered Company by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

The company leads major projects in the oil and gas, industrial, infrastructure, and hospitality and tourism sectors in Oman, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

CIOB Chartered Company status is awarded to organisations that demonstrate strong governance, a clear commitment to professional development, and a rigorous approach to raising standards in the built environment.

CIOB said the recognition reflects the company’s ongoing investment in its people, its culture of continuous improvement, and its drive to deliver high-quality outcomes across the region.

‘Significant moment’

“Becoming a Chartered Company is a statement of intent and a significant moment for the built environment,” said Aaron Hennessy, Group Managing Director at Douglas OHI.

“It shows clients, partners, and employees that we are fully committed to best practice, professional excellence, and continuous development. This accreditation is a strong endorsement of our capability, professionalism, and integrity, and reflects the standards we strive to set across all our operations.”

He added that Chartered membership provides access to training, networking opportunities, and resources that support organisational and individual growth.

Matt Doran, MENA Regional Manager at the Chartered Institute of Building, added: “Douglas OHI has demonstrated exceptional dedication to raising industry standards and embedding professionalism across its workforce. Achieving Chartered Company status is a significant endorsement of its leadership, capability, and vision. This milestone positions Douglas OHI as a key contributor to the future of the built environment in Oman and an influential force across the GCC region.”
