Ferrovial says it has successfully tested proximity sensors in vests and helmets to alert workers when machinery gets too close.

The system triggers a triple alert — physical, visual, and acoustic — to warn them to move.

It was first tested in the US by subsidiary Webber in October 2022.

Ferrovial then piloted it on the Club del Mar expansion project in Palma de Mallorca and on the Oporto Metro extension in Portugal.

The devices were supplied by UK firm, GKD.
