Heijmans to transform former Dutch sports park into residential district

Dutch contractor Heijmans has been selected to carry out the redevelopment of a sports park in Vlaardingen, a city in South Holland.

The project is expected to cost between €80m and €100m, and will add 300 and 400 ground-floor homes and apartments at the former Vijfsluizen sports park.

Heijmans says it will also repurpose the old Shell sports building at this site.

Heijmans and the municipality of Vlaardingen will work together over the next few months to expand on the urban development plan. The project is due to be completed in 2020.
