Swiss architect Herzog & de Meuron has won an international competition to design a headquarters for Lombard Odier, one of the largest private banks in Europe.
Located on the Lake Geneva in Bellevue, north of Geneva, the 27,000 sq m development will contain space for 2,600 employees, an auditorium seating 600 and a staff restaurant.
The "One Roof" project will consist of a single building, with "neither a front nor a back" according to Herzog & de Meuron.
The building will contain what the architect describes as "generously cantilevered, curved and conspicuously slender floor slabs".
Pierre de Meuron, founder of the practice, said: "We have designed a transparent, elegant and measured building; as such, its architecture reflects the vision and values of Lombard Odier.
"The form and appearance of our project are not due to aesthetic preference. Our intention is to enable all occupants of the new head office to appreciate the natural environment."
Herzog & de Meuron will work with local firm Favre & Guth on the project, which is due to be completed in 2021.
