Volvo Construction Equipment and Hitachi Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote zero‑emission construction sites with electric machinery, clean power supplies, energy management and system integration.

The duo will assess technical and commercial concepts for manufacturing and business models, emphasising plug‑and‑play approaches to simplify the transition.

They will also work on connected machines and digital integration.

They said consumers, investors and regulators all cite the need to lower emissions starting at the approval and planning stage.

Niklas Persson, Hitachi Energy’s chief of grid integration, said success depended “less on individual technologies and more on system‑level integration, strong execution, and close collaboration”.
