Interserve wins £500m contract for UK military’s international bases

Interserve, the UK-headquartered contracting and services firm placed in administration, has been awarded an extension worth up to £500m on its deal to provide maintenance services to the UK’s international bases by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

The three-year contract involves infrastructure support for bases in the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Cyprus and Ascension Island. It will offer general maintenance, as well as site-specific services such as aircraft handling at Ascension Island, power generation, water treatment and plant management in the Falklands and support for ships in Gibraltar.

Debbie White, Interserve Group’s chief executive, said:  "I am delighted the DIO has chosen to extend this important contract with Interserve.

"We are uniquely equipped to meet the varied and changing facilities management requirements of the UK armed forces across the defence estate, helping to ensure critical infrastructure is serviced and maintained effectively.

"This contract win is illustrative of our extensive defence facilities management expertise and aligns with our strategy to develop long-term relationships with clients such as the DIO."

It has been a troubled year for Interserve, which was placed in administration in March, after a rescue deal was rejected by shareholders.
