In September last year, one of the UK’s biggest construction firms, ISG, went into administration, resulting in the loss of 2,200 jobs.
The fall-out has since been rippling through the industry, with projects across the board in limbo and the list of ISG creditors filling 27 pages.
Some former ISG staff have found safe haven, however.
For instance, fit-out specialist Morris & Spottiswood saw an opportunity to absorb some of that skill base to support its own expansion.
Within a matter of months, the company had saved more than 100 jobs by absorbing ISG’s retail team.
