Marriott International signs deals for three new hotels in Africa

Marriott International has announced three new deal signings for hotels in Morocco, Ghana and Liberia.

In Morocco, the St. Regis Marrakech Resort will be part of the Assoufid Golf Resort and will include 80 luxury rooms and villas.

In Ghana, the Residence Inn by Marriott Accra Kotoka Airport will be a 12-story hotel with 160 suites. Projected to open in 2023, the hotel will be managed by franchisee Yamusah Hotels Management Company Limited, the owner and developer.

Marriott’s debut in Liberia will be the Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia. Anticipated to open in 2020, the hotel will consist of 111 rooms in Monrovia’s central business district. It is a franchised property owned by Sea Suites Hotel LLC and will be managed by Aleph Hospitality.

The company made the announcement last week at the Forum de l’Investissement Hôtelier Africa in in Marrakech.

Last year Marriott International said it wanted to increase its African portfolio by 50% by 2023, bringing the total to 200 hotels and 38,000 rooms.
