The municipality of Amsterdam is planning three urban development projects as part of its drive to create 50,000 homes by 2025.
The three areas are:
- IJburg 2, which will be built on reclaimed land
- Overamstel is a former inner city commercial site
- Zeeburgereiland will be a redevelopment of and area with an industrial heritage.
Swedish engineer Sweco will provide advice and civil engineering services for the three projects.
Eugene Grüter, president of Sweco Netherlands, said: "These three districts are vital parts of Amsterdam’s growth plan. By creating inspiring environments for people to live and work, Amsterdam is preparing for the future.
"We are committed to bring our long experience and expertise in all aspects of urban development to this project."
Tjeerd Roozendaal, director of the engineering division of the Municipality of Amsterdam, said: "We wish to make optimum use of Sweco’s expertise in order to tackle this huge challenge in the most innovative and performance-based manner possible."
The municipality of Amsterdam has estimated the contract value at €1m a year.
The agreement runs through April 2021 with four further one-year options for continuation.
