A study by the government of New Zealand has revealed that almost 80% of businesses in the construction industry reported vacancies in 2016, with 58% saying some were "hard-to-fill".
Vacancies include newly created positions and jobs that have become vacant after a staff member left.
Businesses surveyed reported that trade-related skills, management or supervisory skills, and professional or technical skills were difficult to find in job applicants.
Team-working, oral communication and numeracy skills were the least difficult to find in applicants.
Almost 40,000 businesses were represented in the Business Operations Survey, and 76% reported staff vacancies, the same as in 2014.

They need to pay realistic wages in New Zealand construction, then people will work there, people can not afford the houses or the cost of living. When I worked there everybody I worked with had a second job (mostly a farm).
