Vinci in $4bn buy-up of 10 Portuguese airports

18 September 2013

Vinci has finalised the acquisition of ANA, the company that holds a 50-year concession for Portugal’s 10 airports, a deal worth just over $4.1bn (€3.08bn).

It is the final step in the privatisation process that was launched by the Portuguese government and approved by the European Commission in June 2013.

Combined the 10 airports handled more than 30 million passengers in 2012, of which approximately 80% were international.

Passenger traffic is reported to have increased at an annual average rate of over 4% for the past 10 years.

Vinci says the acquisition is in line with its strategy of becoming a leading international player in airport concessions.

Vinci Airports will now manage 23 airports in Portugal, France and Cambodia.
