
Six construction workers have been injured after the bridge they were working on collapsed in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, during the evening of Monday 28 April.
The bridge was to have formed part of the Sonauli–Gorakhpur National Highway, and was located close to the village of Mohanapur Dhala.
According to the Purandarpur police department “a portion of the under-construction bridge suddenly gave way, trapping several workers under the debris”. The victims were dug out with construction machinery and taken to a hospital in Pharenda.
Indian authorities have begun an investigation into the incident.
