Setao, a local subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has won a €95m, second-stage contract from the Ivory Coast’s ministry of public hygiene to overhaul Yopougon University Hospital in Abidjan.
In July, Setao started building new operating theatres, a chemist, laboratories and consulting rooms. The hospital will continue functioning during construction.
The redevelopment is due to be fully completed in May 2028, with early handover planned for medical imaging and inpatient rooms.
Setao carried out the project’s first phase in 2023, when it renovated operating theatres, the A&E department, the intensive care unit and patient wards.
When work is finished, Yopougon University Hospital will have 509 beds, 12 operating theatres, an MRI scanner, two CT scanners and 12 ultrasound scanners.
