Skanska and the Kronoberg Region of southern Sweden have signed an agreement on phase one of building a new emergency hospital in the city of Växjö.
Worth some $114m (SEK 1.2 billion), phase one involves pre-construction work on the 135,000-sq-m project.
It follows a feasibility study carried out last spring to which Skanska contributed, the company said.
Skanska’s work starts this month, with the goal of phase two, construction, starting in autumn 2023.
The hospital is expected to be completed in 2029.
