Skanska today said it has signed an agreement with Akademiska Hus to build new premises for the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, with the contract valued at around $118m (SEK 1.2 billion).

Also today, the company announced a $52m contract to renovate an unnamed healthcare facility in New York City.

In Gothenburg, Skanska will erect two new buildings with a total area of 35,000 sq m, and rebuild the existing Artisten building to meet future needs.

The new buildings will aim for gold certification from the Sweden Green Building Council’s Miljöbyggnad rating scheme, and silver for the rebuild.

Construction is planned to start in January 2023 and will finish in stages during 2025-27.

In New York, Skanska will renovate the health facility to provide new offices, laboratories, upgraded infrastructure, and HVAC systems.

Construction is underway and is scheduled for completion in May 2025.
