Skanska has won five contracts across the US this month together worth $682m.
They are: a $271m contract to build a new pier at a naval station in Rhode Island; a $163m contract to renovate and build new arts facilities at a university in Virginia; a $110m contract to build a high-school in Washington; a $78m contract for another school in the west of the US; and a $60m contract for a hospital in Florida.
At Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island, Skanska will build a homeport pier for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, replacing pier 1 with an updated structure.
The project’s scope of work includes demolition of the existing 30m x 482m pier and building a 24m x 305m structure capable of berthing four US Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Cutters.
The new pier will include infrastructure to support the docked vessels including substations, water and wastewater connections and a compressed air system.
Work on the pier has begun and is due to be completed in March 2030.
In Fredericksburg, Virginia, Skanska has signed a contract with the University of Mary Washington for renovation work and to build a new theatre (pictured top).
Skanska will undertake site development, infrastructure, core shell and interior fittings for a multi-story, 6,300-sq-m theatre with a 293-capacity performance hall.
A 7,600-sq-m renovation will be carried out on fine arts buildings and an 800-sq-m space will be added.
The project has begun and construction and renovations are due to be completed in February 2030.

In the state of Washington, Skanska will build a new three-story, 32,500-sq-m high school for the Renton School District.
Able to accommodate 1,600 students, the campus (pictured above) will include classrooms and learning environments for art, science electives, plus career and technical education.
The development will include a library, health services, cafeteria, common areas, gyms, baseball field, football pitch and community areas.
The school is due to be finished in autumn 2029.
Skanska has also signed a $78m contract to build a school in the western US for an unnamed client.
The facility will replace a current school on site and expand opportunities for students and the local community.
The school is due to be completed in 2029.

In Florida, Skanska has signed a $60m contract with Lee Health to build a five-floor, 38,600-sq-m hospital and 11,600-sq-m medical office building with ambulatory surgery centre in Fort Myers (pictured above).
Skanska’s scope of work includes interior build-out finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumping work associated with the West Bed Tower expansion.
The facilities are due to be completed in May 2028.
