Skanska has a contract to replace a road bridge in Massachusetts, and another to construct an engineering building at Virginia Tech University.
The first, which is worth $274m, was signed with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. It involves building a successor to the Rourke Bridge over the Merrimack River.

Skanska will remove a temporary structure and build the bridge, complete with ancillary infrastructure, such as drainage, signalling and lighting. Work is to be completed in February 2030.
The second deal is to build a $240m facility for Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering.

Skanska will renovate part of Hancock Hall and will build the five-storey Mitchell Hall. Its 28,500 sq m will be occupied by aerospace and ocean engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering education.
It will also contain classrooms, laboratories, collaborative spaces and one of the largest university-owned wind tunnels in the US.
The project is due to be completed in autumn 2028.
