Canadian engineering giant SNC-Lavalin has been appointed to deliver engineering services for the asset management of Sydney Harbour Tunnel and the city’s new Western Harbour Tunnel.

Its long-term services agreement sees the company supporting Ventia, the asset manager for both tunnels on behalf of Transport for NSW.

SNC-Lavalin will help shift existing operations of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel to Ventia before September 2022.

On the Western Harbour Tunnel, SNC-Lavalin will support Ventia during the procurement, design and construction phases through systems engineering and digital asset management.

Paul Callender, an SNC-Lavalin director in Australia and New Zealand, said: “This is a significant contract for us as we continue to increase our portfolio in Australia, delivering critical infrastructure which is reshaping cities and communities.”

Also in Australia, SNC-Lavalin is currently involved in Sydney Metro’s Western Sydney Airport Line, the Inland Rail scheme and the Cross River Rail project in Brisbane.
